Jason Ferris
was born January 26, 1992, in Toledo Ohio. He is an Honor’s graduate of State Line Christian School, in Temperance, Michigan. Jason was a captain and the goalie for the Varsity soccer team and the starting forward on the Varsity basketball team. Also at school, Jason excelled in Athletics, Choir, Drama, Ensemble, and with playing alto saxophone in Band
At the age of four, he had commandeered his dad’s drum set. Before he turned five, Jason was holding persistent beats, accented with various stroke rolls and other rudiments.
Immediately, he knew his calling.
At age 11, Jason began playing publicly—drumming with the worship team at his church, a position that he filled for 10 years. He also played drums in a local Christian rock band with one of his sisters and friends.
In August 2010, only three months after graduating from high school, Jason’s abilities were procured by Christian rock band Southbound Fearing, to fill in for a few months. His fit with the guys and his drumming skills were so greatly valued that the band kept him on full-time and at full speed ahead.
Jason held that position for nearly three years—touring and recording nationally. He recorded two full-length albums with the group, a compilation EP and was featured in several music videos as a signed artist with Red Cord Records.
In January 2013
Jason resigned from his role with the band, in order to seize other opportunities. In May 2014, through a series of divine circumstances, he joined the band Bread of Stone, with whom he toured and recorded on their two latest full-length albums, most recent EP and was featured in several of their music videos.
In addition to being the band’s drummer, Jason has also been an integral part of their production company, BNY Production.
Jason has played shows and worked production events across the U.S. In his many travels, he has met countless other bands and artists and has served and supported them in their stage performances.
From patching them in on main stage,
to working as drum tech, and running lights at various events, Jason has increased his knowledge and skillset while working with the company for over 8 years.
In addition to being production support to the bands, the relationships that he built with those artists became the building blocks of his career as a Live Performance Producer.
In 2015, Jason began producing the live show of his first client. He continued with contributing to his own band’s performance in Bread of Stone. In building relationships during their travels, he soon began adding more artists to his roster. To date, Jason has offered various services and partnered with a wide range of clients such as: Colton Dixon, Cade Thompson, Abby Robertson, Bayside Worship, Elevate Church, Taylor Marshall and many others.
Jason Ferris has helped clients prepare for numerous notable events. Among these were: Winter Jam Tour, American Idol, K-Love Radio’s Concert Series, SiriusXM Writer’s Round, The Huckabee Show, Creation Festivals, LifeLight Festival, LifeFest, RiseFest, New Release Today’s “We Love Awards Show,” Label Showcases, Radio Tours and more.
In the summer of 2022, Jason and Skylar moved to the outskirts of “music city” where their work of producing client’s live shows continued to grow. They soon started Purpose Live which is dedicated to equipping and empowering singers and musicians to effectively communicate with their audience by doing everything onstage with purpose.
A new name, a new brand - the same mission.
Along side his drumming,
production work, and live performance coaching, for several years Jason and his wife Skylar hosted The Jason Ferris Show on multiple radio stations and iTunes.
Jason has spoken at churches and conferences on how being intentional in what we do onstage impacts our audience and congregation. He has coached bands in-person during their rehearsals and remotely both over video calls and phone consultation.
Jason’s passion grew out of a love for music and turned into a life of full-time music and ministry.
