Love and Devotion - Pt. 1

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love is in the air!

The month of February has been celebrated for hundreds of years as the month of romance. This day, in particular, has been celebrated with an exchange of small gifts between significant others or perhaps gifts received from secret admirers. Approaching this love-filled holiday expressed through chocolates, roses, love letters and cards, led me to thinking about love and devotion in a different kind of way.

As musicians, we may love what we do, but are we devoted to doing it? We write songs, record music, post on socials and play shows. We may love the idea of having an impactful music career or ministry, but are we fully devoted to putting in the effort it takes?

This effort should be our response of love and devotion expressed out of thankfulness to what we’ve been entrusted with. And we need to put in the effort day in and day out - onstage and off.

For singers, are you not only using but taking care of your voices? Try to make it a daily routine of doing vocal warm-ups and exercises and drinking plenty of water.

For musicians, are you not only playing well but working towards communicating well? Know your parts and own your performance by communicating and connecting with the audience through your playing.

Walking and talking, playing and moving can and should all be worked on at home as individuals and at rehearsals as a group.

We can’t take the stage without taking the steps to get there. No matter how big or small of an artist or church you are, you have something special. Love is what brought you here, but devotion is what will help you stick with it.

Are you interested in diving deeper into these areas for YOUR show? I’d love to get to know you and learn about your journey in music! Let’s schedule a FREE discovery call today!
